Splash Away the Trash
The Lake Hartwell Association is sponsoring a cleanup event in our area, and I’ve volunteered to serve as Site Captain to coordinate volunteers, supplies, and trash collection. Bags, trash pickers, and gloves will be provided. Our cleanup sites will include Chickasaw Point and nearby areas.
Boat Captains Needed – If you have a boat and are willing to serve as a Boat Captain, please let me know how many volunteers you can take on board.
Boat Volunteers – If you don’t have a boat but would like to help, volunteers can be assigned to a Boat Captain.
Shoreline Volunteers – If you’d prefer to walk the shoreline and do a little “treasure hunting,” let me know and we’ll assign you to a location.
Thanks to the incredible support of all the volunteers this past spring, we removed 4,478 pounds of trash from Lake Hartwell! Together we made a real difference—and this fall, we're aiming to make an even bigger impact.
Together, we can continue protecting the beauty of Lake Hartwell—for the sake of the lake!

Halloween Hayride
Join us for the annual Chickasaw Halloween Trick-or-Treat Hayride on Saturday, October 31st.
HAYRIDE ROUTE
We will meet at the Overlook parking lot and load up at 4:45pm, we will take a group picture and then start the route at 5:00pm.
Our route will be down South Hogan to Chickasaw Dr. and looping back to finish at The Overlook.
Adults are not required to ride the hayride.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The parade is reserved for hayride trucks and trailers only. No golf carts or vehicles are permitted to follow the hayride
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
You can join in the fun in three ways:
RIDE ALONG – Hop on the hayride and enjoy the parade route
BE A STOP – Host a treat stop along the way. (The hayride will only stop at houses located on Chickasaw Drive or at connecting street corners)
TRUNK OR TREAT– Hand out candy from your decorated trunk! Bring your car (and candy!) to the Overlook Parking Lot by 6:30 PM

Full Moon Paddle
Full Sturgeon Moon Paddle & Bonfire Thursday, Aug 27th
Join us for a special summer evening on the water - everyone is invited to come out and paddle under the Sturgeon Moon! Just show up and enjoy the experience.
Gather at the beach by 8:15 PM. We’ll launch promptly at 8:30 PM, so please arrive early enough to have your kayak or paddleboard ready to go. We’ll paddle to a nearby island, take a short break, and then paddle back to the beach. The round trip will be approx. 45–60 minutes, with paddlers returning by 9:30 PM.
Want to enjoy the evening and the moonlight but don’t want to paddle? A bonfire will begin at the beach around 8:45 PM. Bring your own chair and whatever you’d like to enjoy around the fire. Cocktails? S’mores? The paddlers will join the fun when they return.
Safety Guidelines
The SC DNR requires all users to follow US Coast Guard safety regulations. Each participant must have:
1. A white light
2. A wearable flotation device on board
3. A whistle
A limited supply of extra lights and whistles will be available; however, it is each participant’s responsibility to comply with all safety guidelines.
Participants under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

In honor of America’s 250th Anniversary, deck out your cart in bold red, white & blue and roll through the community in a high-energy tribute to 1776. Following the Firecracker 5K, the celebration continues as we parade our American spirit to The Overlook—where Red, White & BBQ is waiting!
Decorate your golf cart, bring your patriotic spirit, and join the parade lineup — or grab a seat along the parade route and cheer on the fun! Spectators are also invited to gather at the Overlook to enjoy the festivities and celebrate together.
Participants are invited to enter the Golf Cart Decorating Contest for a chance to win fun prizes and community bragging rights! Firecracker 5K
Kick off the 250th anniversary with a bang! The Firecracker 5K literally starts with thousands of firecrackers exploding at the start line. Held at the entrance of Chickasaw point, one of Upstate South Carolina's most beloved hidden-gem lakefront communities, this race is open to everyone!
The course takes you along a picturesque, tree-lined out-and-back route featuring a sweeping view of Lake Hartwell and the Chickasaw Point Golf course. Your friends and family are welcome to cheer you on along the course or join you in the run/walk.
All finishers receive an official commemorative 250th anniversary race medal and a Chickasaw Point 250th celebration shirt.
